VisionFeed-3D

An efficient, reliable feeding system for unloading difficult to handle goods. Concept Systems’ VisionFeed-3D offers automated line feeding, utilizing an innovative laser-guided robot system. The laser system, utilizing two SICK IVP cameras to generate a 3D model, determines the position and orientation of randomly placed objects in a bin or on a pallet. The system then deploys the robot to pick the next, most accessible object and accurately positions it for the infeed system. Concept Systems tailors the robot and end of arm tool to each application’s particular needs. (VIDEO)

How laser scanners and non-contact encoders are changing robotic applications

IMTS 2014At the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) show in Chicago earlier this month, I had the opportunity to share with clients and potential clients information about a new automation application that involves some good, solid here-and-now technology as well as some not-quite-ready-for primetime, emerging technology that is rather exciting. The application involves painting robots, coupled with laser scanning and non-contact encoding.

The painting applications I have typically encountered come in one of two flavors: 1) either fixturing a part up and loading it into a booth Continue Reading →

How Laser Scanners and Non-Contact Encoders Are Changing Robotic Applications

Painting robots can save time and waste, and the technology is not as far off as you may think.
