OnGuard Collision Avoidance

Our OnGuard Collision Avoidance software employs advanced algorithms to help protect automated equipment from collision while running in auto, being driven manually, or during programming.

When Collisions Are Not An Option

As flexible robot automation increases in popularity, so does the need to protect expensive parts, fixtures, and end effectors from collisions. A robot collision with a part can cost thousands of dollars in damaged product and replacement end effectors, not to mention the additional costs associated with the downtime created by a collision.

Concept Systems has developed a revolutionary system comprised of 3D Vision and industrial computers, when combined create the ability to perform real-time collision avoidance calculations for robot(s) in the workcell. The core of the system is the Collision Avoidance Module (CAM), which is an advanced computer made up of the following:

Dynamic Collision Avoidance: Ability to interface with 3D models and vision systems to understand robot and part position in 3D space.

Multiple Modes of Operation:

  • Real-Time Monitoring: Constantly monitors robot position and velocity to determine if robots need to be slowed or stopped to prevent collisions.
  • Simulation Mode: Used for testing new paint paths or situations in a simulated robotic environment.

Friendly User Interface: With real-time 3D visualizations and an alarm list for advanced control and troubleshooting.
