Concept Systems is proud to recognize Senior Engineer Jeremy Goodrich for earning his FS Engineer (TÜV Rheinland) certification in Machinery, further strengthening Concept’s expertise in functional safety and machine safety applications.
The internationally recognized certification is part of the TÜV Rheinland Functional Safety Training Program and demonstrates competency in the principles and requirements of functional safety for machinery. Certification requires engineers to meet professional experience requirements, complete approved training, and successfully pass the FS Engineer examination.
For the Machinery application area, the program focuses on internationally recognized machine safety standards including, ISO 12100, ISO 13849, and IEC 62061, along with risk assessment, safety-related control systems, risk reduction, verification, and validation.
Building Safety Into the Engineering Process
Jeremy’s certification builds upon an approach to safety already deeply rooted in Concept Systems’ engineering culture.
Through our Project Methodology, safety is considered throughout the engineering process rather than treated as an afterthought. That commitment encourages our engineers to continually strengthen their knowledge of current standards, technologies, and best practices that can help customers identify hazards and reduce risk.
Jeremy’s achievement is one example of that continued professional development.
As a Senior Engineer, his expanded functional safety expertise strengthens Concept’s ability to evaluate machinery applications with a deeper understanding of the standards and engineering principles behind effective risk reduction.
From Risk Assessment to Risk Reduction
An important part of machine safety is understanding the risk before determining the solution.
Concept Systems provides Safety Risk Assessments to help manufacturers systematically identify machine hazards, evaluate risk, and establish appropriate risk-reduction measures. Those findings can then provide a roadmap for remediation, including changes to machine controls, guarding, safety devices, operating procedures, or other safeguards.
Our engineers also have extensive experience implementing machine safety solutions including safety PLCs, interlocks, light curtains, area scanners, emergency-stop systems, safe motion, and other safety-related controls.
That combination of assessment, engineering, integration, and validation allows Concept to support customers through more of the machine safety lifecycle, from identifying a hazard to implementing and verifying the solution.
Investing in Safer Automation
Functional safety requires more than selecting the right safety hardware. It requires engineers who understand how hazards, risk reduction, control-system architecture, applicable standards, and machine operation work together.
Jeremy’s FS Engineer (TÜV Rheinland) certification represents both an individual accomplishment and another investment in the technical expertise Concept Systems brings to its customers.
Congratulations to Jeremy on this well-earned achievement and his continued commitment to engineering safer, smarter automation.
